Open Weekend 4-5 July 2009 – More Details

The Talyllyn Railway’s 16mm scale Narrow Gauge Railway Modellers
present the third annual Garden Railway open weekend.

We will be operating 16mm scale model steam hauled narrow gauge trains on the Llechfan Garden Railway which is located in the grounds of the volunteer hostel at the Talyllyn Railway, Wharf Station, Tywyn.

On Saturday evening the Porters Platter café at Wharf Station will be operating a licensed bar with hot meals available and in conjunction with the gala weekend,  there will also be an evening train running on the Talyllyn Railway

The event coincides with the Talyllyn Railway Have A Go Gala which offers opportunities to drive a steam or diesel locomotive or take part in many of the other supporting activities on the Talyllyn Railway.

For the younger enthusiast a 7¼ ” gauge miniature railway will be providing rides in Wharf station yard.

Please ask platform staff at Tywyn Wharf station for directions to the garden railway. Do not cross the running lines to get to the layout unless supervised by Talyllyn Railway staff.

    Congratulations and best wishes to everyone who has helped to build the LGR. Any plans to cater for us adherents to the “broad gauge” (45mm)?

    Sorry for the long delay in replying, but now that work is underway on moving much of the Compton Down Railway to Llechfan there will in time be provision for 45mm gauge.
